Leon Guallart came into the store on an overcast late winter afternoon with copies of his album, Comfort, wrapped in red wax sealed-red tissue paper under his trenchcoat. He offered one as a gift to the store: a deep red vinyl packaged with intention, a red string that closes the two fold sleeve with a beautiful book of photographs in the insert depicting wintry scenes that set the tone for the landscapes his record exemplifies.
Lush, yet sparse production - the warmth of a fireplace in the bleakness of a blizzard - the record feels like a lonesome walk home through a snowy field at dusk.
We're gonna pretend it is still winter and celebrate this release at Healing Force on May 5. Guallart, a recent transplant from Barcelona, plans to recreate the soundscapes live with accompanying visuals from our baby grand piano on stage. Come get cozy.
