Jenny Scheinman: Field Notes

Jenny Scheinman is a genre-defying violinist, composer, and bandleader whose music bridges jazz, Americana, and cinematic soundscapes. A longtime force in the New York creative music scene, she returned to her native Humboldt County, CA, where the rugged Lost Coast inspired her expansive new double album, All Species Parade. Featuring Bill Frisell, Nels Cline, Julian Lage, Carmen Staaf, Tony Scherr, and Kenny Wollesen, the album conjures the wild diversity of the Pacific Northwest with long-form compositions that are both meditative and explosive. Scheinman’s radiant playing blends lyrical poise, jazz fire, and old-time fiddle roots. Her work spans collaborations with legends like Lucinda Williams, Jason Moran, and Brian Blade, and she’s composed scores and multimedia projects, including Here on Earth and the forthcoming Avenue of the Giants. With All Species Parade, she invites listeners to a musical celebration of life in all its vivid, untamed beauty.

Scheinman is joined by Jeff Parker (guitar), Miro Sprague (piano), Karl McComas-Reichl (bass), Mark Ferber (drums)
