From Pitchfork: Chicago post-rock staples Tortoise are back with their first new album in nine years. Touch arrives on vinyl, CD, and digital download on October 24, via International Anthem and Nonesuch, with the album coming to digital streaming platforms on November 11.
Touch, Tortoise’s eighth studio album and the follow-up to 2016’s The Catastrophist, was recorded and mixed by the band’s own John McEntire. The quintet—Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Douglas McCombs, McEntire, and Jeff Parker—wrote all 10 songs on the LP together, but recorded them in the three cities where the members now reside: Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland, Oregon. Included on the Touch tracklist is “Oganesson,” which Tortoise released back in March.
