Kiasmos, the duo of Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen, invite five trusted artists to completely reimagine their acclaimed second album, II.
Released in July 2024, II marked Kiasmos' long-awaited return, earning widespread critical acclaim and taking the duo across four continents on a sold-out world tour. Now, II Reworked sees the album transformed by long-time friend and composer Alex Somers, producers and multi-instrumentalists Rachika Nayar and Nina Keith (aka Disiniblud), and Icelandic composers Kjartan Holm and Sin Fang.
Curated by Arnalds, Rasmussen and executive producer Robert Raths, the reworks reveal new emotional dimensions within the original recordings. Nayar and Keith reshape the music through electronic experimentation, Holm and Fang draw out its ambient beauty, while Somers slows, detunes and reimagines the pieces using analogue techniques, creating a dreamlike journey through the album after the dancefloor has emptied.
Each reworking is paired with new visuals by artists chosen by the musicians themselves, including Japanese artist Takagi Masakatsu, Portland animator Jayden Becker and Icelandic filmmaker Kjartan Trauner, completing a rich audiovisual reinterpretation of II.
