James Spaite, Georgia Parker

  • Healing Force of the Universe 1200 E Walnut St Pasadena, CA 91106 United States (map)

James Spaite is a Death of God folk songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist. "Death of God" not as angsty middle fingers to the big man, but as experiencing both a fundamental shift in structure of meaning and the pain of a loss of a life long best friend. Realizing that psychoanalytic thought, theology, and philosophy often feel alienating or book heavy, his live show puts these ideas within jokes, the ache and sadness of common lived experiences, and intricate guitar performances. He will be joined by a full band, string section, and visuals for this night.

Georgia Parker is a singer-songwriter from Kent, England, now based in Los Angeles. She released her debut album, Same Time Tomorrow, in August 2024, establishing herself as a distinctive voice in contemporary folk and indie music. Her sophomore album, Pumpkin, is largely self-produced and further defines her richly textured, sonically delicate sound.

Rooted in indie folk, chamber pop, and indie rock, Pumpkin explores emotional self-protection in its most unhelpful forms. Beneath that exterior, the songs return to an inner child still longing for safety, tenderness, and rest - a theme distilled somewhat sarcastically in the album’s title and final track, “Pumpkin,” a term of endearment that signals softness rather than defense.

Haunting, cinematic, and deeply reflective, the record blends intimate folk and rock with chamber pop, built around a palette of primarily live instruments. Drawing inspiration from Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens, Elliott Smith, Radiohead, and Andy Shauf, Parker crafts immersive, emotionally resonant songs that balance vulnerability with a subtle live-band energy.
