Starter Course: How to Be a Vinyl DJ
With DJ Lady C (Christina Gubala-Block)
Ever wanted to learn how to DJ with records but felt intimidated by the gear, jargon, or culture surrounding it? This two-part beginner workshop is designed to demystify vinyl DJing and give you the practical skills and confidence to start playing records in public, at home, or anywhere in between.
Over two 90-minute sessions, students will learn how to set up turntables and mixers, understand signal flow, troubleshoot audio issues, cue records, blend songs, and make smooth transitions. We'll cover phono vs. line signals, grounding, gain staging, beat matching, turntable setup, record care, sound system basics, and practical DJ booth skills. Participants will gain hands-on experience using real equipment in a supportive environment that encourages experimentation, questions, and community.
