HOW??? is the brainchild of LA-based musicians Alex Tebeleff and Matthew Dowling, stemming from their acclaimed east coast project, Paperhaus. Known for blurring lines between band and venue, Paperhaus thrived in DC’s DIY scene, hosting global acts and evolving into the DCDIT collective. Gentrification ended its original space, and COVID further challenged Tebeleff, prompting a move to LA and a shift to producing. Their debut album, How???, melds Paperhaus' psychedelic roots with influences from Americana to electronic, reflecting Tebeleff's transformative journey.
D.A. Stern, crafted by David Aaron Stern, merges his passions for crosswords, backgammon, and music engineering at MCA's studio. His dreamy pop rock blends witty lyrics with dense guitars and swirling organs, channeling influences from filmmakers like Albert Brooks. Similar to Deerhunter and Real Estate, Stern's sound, infused with Paul Westerberg's timelessness, sets him apart in today's indie scene.
