Big Search, Imaad Wasif

Big Search is the ever-present alter ego of Matt Popieluch as he continues to make his way through Californian life, channeling the cross-currents of romance, upheaval, and casual adventure. After years of making music in various bands like Foreign Born and The Cave-Ins, and playing in other people's bands like Papercuts, Fools Gold, Glasser, Cass McCombs, Taken By Trees and Sky Ferreira, Big Search has been steadily uncovering the music being revealed to him in flow-states. After releasing LPs Life Dollars (2016), Slow Fascination (2019) and the instrumental EP Channel Islands (2020) on Danger Mouse's 30th Century Records, Big Search is now releasing music from the forthcoming album Animal Cheer, due in Spring 2024 on his own newly formed label Extra Texture.

Imaad Wasif, a singer-songwriter and guitarist, blends psychedelic folk and rock. He’s released seven solo albums, starting with his 2006 self-titled debut. Wasif, also known for his work with lowercase, Alaska!, Grim Tower, and the Folk Implosion. Wasif joined Yeah Yeah Yeahs in 2006 as a touring member. Notably, he co-wrote "Hideaway" for Where the Wild Things Are. His music spans intense, trippy songs with Eastern influences, with recent releases including So Long Mr. Fear (2022) and a remix in 2023. $13 adv / $15 at the door
